Equus 3160 Innova Abs

Has worked great. Used live data to locate an egr valve electrical problem on a ford diesel. [No stored trouble code and check engine light was not on. It just didn't run right.] Also located a transmission shift problem on an accord. It had a stored trouble code and check engine light was on. The 3160 is pretty easy to use even for a novice like me.

Equus 3160 Good Buy

The live data view on some vehicles is a little limited, but not bad, I think it reads more than my old unit did, on the CAN bus on my wifes car it pulls up alot of data, some of the functions require you to learn certian key sequences to activate, the product could be a little more user friendly/ menu driven, but all in all it was an excellent buy. P.S. the ABS mode does not work on my 1997 Venture, but it did on the 06 MalibuMaxx and the 04 E250.

Equus 3160 Good Option for DIY

I was able to take it out of the box and put it to work in just a few minutes. It worked as advertised and provided me with the guidance I needed to get my car running smoothly again.

I would definetly recommend this tool to others.

Equus 3160 Innova

I ordered my Equus 3160 scanner a few weeks ago because I got frustrated at the thought of paying the Dealer hundreds of dollar for a repair on my 1998 V.W. Jetta. The scanner picked up 6 codes and right away and I was able to make my own repairs saving myself TONS of money. If you own a late model car or SUV this scanner is just as important to have, as having sockets and wrenches to work on your vehicle. The instructions are VERY redundant and need to be read very carefully. After retrieving the codes from your vehicle you have to remove the OBD2 cable and connect another cable to the scanner to download the info into your computer. I can see where the LARGE parallel port connector on the top of the scanner will wear out after a few years. The cool thing is the support you get from the software. You can build reports on vehicles and for a fee submit your DTC's along with symptoms of the vehicle and get parts lists and repair instructions. The 3160 is a great tool for someone that likes doing it yourself and saving money but, make no mistake, having this scanner (or any scanner) won't make a DIY'er into a ASE mechanic.

Equus 3160 Unfortunately ABS is only most 1996 and newer

Unfortunately my 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix does not report the ABS. Otherwise I am happy with my purchase, though I have not tried to download any updates with the computer. This is the first scanner I've purchased so this scanner does a lot more than I know how to use, yet it is simple enough to use with very little instruction. I think my brothers are benefitting from it more than I am.
